My Teenagehood Walk in Christ Jesus
My teenage years were a journey of learning what it meant to walk with Christ.
I did not have everything figured out.
I encountered challenges like any other young person, but I had something that continually brought me back to the right path: God's Word.
Psalm 119:105 became one of the verses that spoke deeply to me:
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
I read it so often that it became a constant reminder that I needed God's Word to guide me.
As I grew older, I also began learning about the importance of patience in matters of love and sexual purity.
Song of Songs 8:4 taught me not to awaken love before its appropriate time.
That made me think seriously about the boundaries I needed to establish.
I realised that I needed principles.
I needed to know what I stood for before I found myself in situations where I would have to make difficult decisions.
That meant choosing my company carefully.
It meant listening to mentors and older women who had already walked through seasons of life that I was entering.
It meant praying.
It meant obeying godly instruction.
There were moments when I wanted to do things simply because my friends were doing them. But I learned that wisdom sometimes means listening when someone older tells you, “Don't go there.”
Looking back, I realise that God surrounded me with support systems.
He used His Word.
He used mentors.
He used family.
He used people who cared enough to guide me.
And above all, He gave me grace.
So, to the young person reading this:
Do not underestimate your prayers.
Keep praying.
Keep trusting God.
Be careful about what you watch, read and listen to.
Choose your friends wisely.
Set your boundaries early.
And remember that you do not have to walk alone.
